In the end everything leads back to the beginning and so I have to return to the Devils Wood to gather the last Fel Essence. By killing one of the monsters on my way I get another Depraved Soulstone that at last I have enough of them to trade them against some Cenarion Plant Salve. And with this I am able to heal the next Song Flower to use it to enhance my attributes again.

I ride through the area of the Jaedenar to find the legionaries there who carry the Fel Essence. But in the beginning they are not that easy to be found as there are many other guards of the Jaedenar around. First I try to sneak in between them, but there is always one of them who attacks me from behind then. So in the end I get fed up and decide to kill all of them to make sure that I can continue working undisturbedly. An arriving Ally just needs one look to notice that I am currently not in the mood for a friendly encounter and immediately retreats when seeing me in my murderous frenzy.

After a while the entrance area is cleaned and at the far end I can see the entrance to the Shadow Keep. Here also I find some followers of the Jaedenar but at least now there are some legionaries among them. Unfortunally none of them drops a Fel Essence. Before I could progress my way into the dungeon Wollkneul, another Horde hero arrives and to avoid that he kills my legionaries I decide to band with him. So I change to use the Curse of Weakness and in addition I send my Corruption spell and my Fel Hunter into combat. This way we quickly get to the very end of the keep where three enemies are waiting for Wollkneul. After we killed them and started our way back at last I manage to find my Fel Essence. While I still enjoy my finding, Wollkneul kills an incoming Ally. When we reach the gate of the keep again he seems to fear the revenge of the Alliance or he simply is not a man of many words - at least he unbands with a short thanks and rides away. I follow him after a short while and if I am not mistaken I can see him die in the distance in a crowd of Jaedenar. Unfortunally I am not able to help him as I have as well collected half a dozend of Jaedenar who picked up my tail when I rode through the valley.

Beside of my quest book my bank safe is always bursting at the seams. Due to the immense wealth I gathered in my temporary trades at the auction house the safe is stacked from the bottom to the top with alchemistic ingredients. Now that my visit at Rogvar had not increased my slchemistic knowledge this situation is likely to endure. At least now I collected 60 Rune Cloth which I could donate. And some Nether Cloth which I can use to improve my First Aid skill and to get some more bandages. Unfortunally I do only consume them on a very low rate as I normally end a fight completely unharmed or completely dead. So there are not many opportunities where I need healing.

I also relieve my safe by taking the philosopher’s stone to wear it. Until now I have not worn any trinkets. And were there not a friendly bypasser who gave me the tip I would never had the idea that a 5 pound stone lumb could count as jewelry. But I don’t want to question that as it brought me some new bonus attributes. To prepare my next voyage I buy 20 calamaries in the auction house (for 1 gold each - I urgently need to improve my fishing skill) to prepare some tasty calamary dishes and as a side effect improve my cooking skill. I also buy a new staff and a dagger which - unfortunally - I have to deposit at the safe as they need level 58 or 59 to wear.

But it will not take me too long to archieve that as in meantime I alreadys gained level 55:

Strength: 46
Agility: 49
Stamina: 148
Intellect: 199
Spirit: 185
Armor: 602

========
Bonus Damage: 25
Bonus Healing: 25
Hit Rating: 0
Crit Chance: 5,32%
Penetration: 0
Mana Regen: 151

The Blasted Lands are surprisingly peaceful on my return. In the beginning I meet a mage of the Alliance but he immediately runs away the moment he sees me. From Bloodmage Lynnore and Bloodmage Drazial I got a few quests to hunt some hyenas, vultures and basilisks and so with each Basilisk Brain and every Vulture Gizzard I fight my way closer to the Fel Guards near the crater. I meet no further Allies on my way but a large dragon which I decide to leave alone.

I have success with already the third Fel Guard which drops the Fel Essence I needed - so now I only need the one from the Devilwoods. While I fought the first Fel Guard a Level 61 Ally warrior appeared. But as I already were engaged in a battle and as he were much mightier than me I could do nothing but hope that he would simply pass by. But he watches me for a while and then all out of the sudden he makes one of this warrior strike attacks and joins into the combat. Immediately he gets the first curse as my answer. It is only then that I notice that I am still unwounded and that his attack has targetted the Fel guard. I am very glad but I have to say that warriors are lousy diplomats.

(Screenshot from “World of Warcraft”

So now I got the Fel Essences but gathering the other treasures of the region turns out to be a hard job. Especially the basilisks show an annoying, though not surprising, lack of brain, which makes it long lasting to collect those brains. The only variety in this boring job is brought to me by Alurana of the Shattered Sun, a Level ?? shaman, who kills me from behind while I am in a combat. While I wait that she will continue her voyage I wonder how she got that strange name. At least I found an occasion to use my soul stone again which would have run out soon otherwise.

At last I got all the ingredients for the Bloodmages but all I get as a reward is chewing gum and other stuff which seems of very limited use. So in the end I have seen enough of the blasted lands for quite a while now.

After I finished the job in Azshara it is time to get back to Undercity and especially to visit the apothecary there. I can not just return the samples from Azshara there but I can also use the laboratory to test the slime samples I collected in Un’Goro and in the Devils Wood. Beside of positively tested samples I get very odd things as result: mostly slime and bones but also some scrolls. That is why I test all samples completely before I return the successful results to the quest giver. When I mentioned that I successfully completed the other samples I was no more allowed to use the laboratory for the other samples afterwards anymore. Even though I had masses of untested samples left.

I also have to visit the teacher of the Warlock arts urgently. Due to my many solved quests I already gained level 54, and I hardly managed to notice that myself. So there are two new courses waiting for me. And with the four talent points I start a new knowledge in my talent tree: demonology. With all that new knowledge I should be able at last to gather the fel essence from the Blasted Lands. The flight to Stonard takes a while but I am looking forward to meet Rogvar who is said to be a highly skilled alchemy teacher. For quite a while I have reached level 300 in both alchemy and herblore now and I wait to increase my knowledge in this fields too. But meeting Rogvar turns out to be a total disappointment. He has no knowledge at all that he would be able to trade to me.

I was able to finish a good deal of quests in the Crater of Un’Goro but now there are waiting about twice as much new quest givers in Marshall’s Retreat. I think it is better to make myself rare a bit and avoid going there for a while. Instead I return to Thunderbluff and visit Ghede to finish a job only to get another one immediately. This new job as well is about plants and farming. I even get a new bag which allows me growing plants from seeds using some Earth from Un’Goro. Unfortunally it takes a while to raise the plants but at least I have already collected enough Earth so I can let them grow while continuing other duties.

My way is leading back to Azshara again to the Ruins of Eldarath, where at last I want to get the four samples. Those sample flasks take no less than four spaces in my backpack so it’s time to get rid of them. But the strange well in the center is not the place where I am supposed to get the samples. Neither it’s the pond in the building in the north.

When reading the quest description more carefully I learn that I shall search the Tide Ponds at the shore, which seems to make sense. And actually I find four little ponds there. I am a bit puzzled that each vial can be filled with the water from a determined pond only. And even stranger it is to observe that after getting filled the vials not only change their colors but also their shapes. But in the end I don’t care. If only I picked the samples and can soon return them to the quest giver.

Already from the distance I smell the stench of the tar pits of Lakkari and the bubbling lakes of tar are the main impression of the area. Unfortunally the lumbs or tar are not simply lying around there but I have to get them one by one from the Tar Lords, Tar Creepers and Tar Beast which dwell around the pits. All the time I am a bit worried about this giant saurier which from time to time appears very closely. But it seems that it had have enough food lately and everytime it comes too close I can drive it off by threatening it with my staff. Am I am glad that this worked out that easily as collecting the tar turnes out to be a long lasting procedure as only few tar creatures actually provide any usable tar. When at last I nearly finished my work I get accompanied by an ally rogue of about my level. Because I finally want to finish my task I am not too interested in a fight at the moment. So I simply continue my work right in sight range to him and I hope that he understands the signal that this time he will get away alive. Fortunally I have my Fel Beast with me which (hopefully) will help me to detect the rogue in case he tries to get invisible and sneak into my back.

After I finished this nasty work I continue my exploration of the regions in the north of the crater and I find a way to Marschalls Retreat which seems to be a neutral outpost. At the entrance I meet another ally of my level and just in case I dismount and take him into target. But he notices the danger he is in and lets me pass in peace. And for me it was a good idea to leave him alone, too. As directly afterwards an ally of the “??” level is passing by on his horse who would most probably would have engaged into any ongoing battle.

Differently to other neutral outposts I do not see any guards here who would hold up peace and order. Therefore I first secure the flight point before taking a tour through the camp. I can see quest givers everywhere around and between those a few who are targets of quests and are waiting for my arrival. I visit the latter first and then enter a strange cavern with is glowing in different colours. I meet J.D. Collie there who asks me to collect power crystals of every available colour for her. As if this cavern were not glowing enough already. But I have collected so many power crystals on my way that I could bury her under them and still would have enough crystals to convert another cavern into a garden party. She also asks me about some pylons I shall visit but I tell her that I am too busy to deal with that stuff.

When I leave the cavern again I find an acceptor for all the Bloodpetal Sprouts I collected. And while I consider what I shall do next I got attacked by a plague of about a dozend little plants. But they do not deal much damage and so I don’t really have to bother much. While my demon kills them one by one I decide to return to the sauriers to collect the missing claws and then to return finished quests before taking any new ones.

While doing my work I try to keep a rough direction northwards as there I hope to find the tar pits which are a likely place to provide me tar for the super glue. This is very easy with my current tactic: sending the Fel Hunter into combat, casting my curses and then running away northwards until the enemy is dead. Then reloading my mana and collecting the raptor claws. Unfortunally I can not avoid to pick up one or the other slime beas in between.

After a while the sauriers become rare and so I decide to leave their range land. I can continue the hunt on my way back or maybe I can find some more sauriers on my way north. In the meantime I have reached a burning mountain in the middle of the valley. Instead of sauriers I find strange fire elementals here which are not interesting for me. On my way I collected some Bloodpetal Sprouts and Power Crystals of almost any colour. In addition I found an old diary which lead me to another quest and to a sunken boat with a compass, pictures and other things. All that hints to a place or person with the name “Williden Marshall”.

Just in the beginning I meet Torwa Pathfinder sitting on a stone near to a cataract. Unfortunally he is talking with a high levelled Ally and so I prefer hiding myself at the bottom of the cataract until the stupid mage rides up the ramp and vanishes. Torwa has only one job for me which is about monkeys I shall hunt here in the crater. So I will keep my eyes open and than see what I can do. Near to a tree I see a brightly shining crystal. Maybe I have to collect these as well. With all the jobs and things to collect I start losing the oversight and maybe it is better to simply collect anything coming into my way. Right behind the crystal there is a plain inhabitated by some Ravasauruses. I remember that these are definitely on my list and so I start collecting them.

Today’s expedition shall lead me into the Crater of Un’Goro at last, where I have pretty much jobs to do already. These are for example collecting White Ravasaur Claws, samples of slime, gluey tar for some superglue and some Un’Goro Soil. Maybe I need a kind of a shopping list for my first visit already. But I don’t want to get that far. On my first visit I will simply enter the Crater without fear, map it and wait for the surprises it will hold for me.

Before I really enter ther Crater I pay another visit in the Thistleshrub Valley to slay some creatures there. I also collect a Dew Gland from a Thistleshrub Dew Collector. I meet two Horde guys who seem to be here for hunting as well. The entrance of the passage to the Crater of Un’Goro is marked by two black columns and leads to a long ramp which provides a riskless decent to the ground of the crater.

The vegatation obviously have accepted the deep scar of the crater as its new living space. In some parts the region is grown over like a jungle but all in all there are too many free areas to call it a proper jungle.

I pay another visit to the Tanaris desert as I still have some quests pending there. Afterwards I plan to ride into the crate of Un’Goro as there are many jobs now which lead me into this region. From Gadgetzan I ride to the west until I reach the canyon. I follow it southwards, always keeping an eye looking down to find a good way to the ground without the uncomfortable side effect of dying.

This way I reach a colony of insectoids which I heard were poisonous. But I do not fear stiches or poisons and collect some Centipaar Insect Parts for Senior Surveyor Fizzledowser.

(Screenshot from “World of Warcraft”

Continuing my way south I reach the borders of the Thistleshrub Valley while at the same time there seems to be a passage to the Un’Goro Crater. But I remember that I was asked to collect samples from a certain hydrous cactus and so turn my horse towards the Thistleshrub Valley first. In the northern part I meet a turtle named Tooga who obviously got lost here. She really got off of her track as she wants to return to the Steamwheedle pier which is on the other end of this desert. But being a reader of relevant literature I know that it often unexpectedly pays to help the weak, even if the help will take a journey of half of the night.

So now I am in the eastern end of the desert again and despite of or just because of my good deed my mood is not the best. Being here I decide to visit the eastern insectoids camp to search for the remainings of Scrimshank. Actually no one would expect this guy to be still alive but I can try to gather his Surveying Gear. On my way Seremia a level 42 nightelf passes my way who served as a good target for my bad mood. But be it change or not only shortly after killing the elf I got hunted down by a “?”-mage with a faster horse than mine. Mages, stupid guys who never will think of the advantages of the warlock’s soul stone. I reach the insectoids and try to avoid fights with them as I don’t want to waste too much time here. So I am not too happy when I find out that the lost Surveying Gear is hidden underground within a large system of caverns which I have to search intensely before, hidden in a corner, I find the missing tool.
